Born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, he was raised in Sacramento, California, after his parents brought him to the United States as an undocumented immigrant at three years old. He had a relatively normal childhood until his teenage years, when being unable to obtain a driver’s license or Social Security number made the long-term impact of his immigration status more apparent.
His parents experienced similar circumstances. Although they were able to find employment, they remained undocumented for many years and did not pursue opportunities to change their situation until it became necessary. Fortunately, they were somewhat prepared when that time came.
His personal experiences give him a strong understanding of how difficult it can be to seek help when someone does not know who to trust or where to turn. He recognizes the courage it takes to take that first step and values the opportunity to support parents, children, and others who are looking for a path toward becoming U.S. residents or citizens.
In his role, he listens to clients’ stories and helps arrange appointments with the firm’s legal team so they can receive the assistance they need. Knowing the potential impact that support can have on someone’s life makes this work especially meaningful to him.
